With plastic surgery becoming more and more common in our society, especially with lip fillers, our appearance and beauty standards have adapted to this change in perspective. Even if you are not able to afford a Botox-session or surgery, you’re still able to adjust your features with apps like Face-Tune or the countless filters available. This development is inspiring artists, like Anton Raimund or Mat Mailand, who focus on these impossible beauty-standards dominating the visual world on social media. It can be seen as criticism on the excessive amount of options on consuming everything beauty-related. Body parts, like breasts and lips, which are the common areas people get surgery on, are overstressed and pushed to ridiculous limits in order to emphasize these crazy, naturally unattainable, beauty standards. It also emphasizes the ever-changing beauty standards and how our view of what we perceive as normal can change over time.
